House Hunting

This week I passed the 3 month mark,

For pday we went to downtown Trujillo to do some shopping and eating. It was super hot and really crowded as it usually is but i got a backpack and felt really special because there were so many people wanting me to purchase their backpacks and were trying to convince me that their identical backpacks were better. I also ate this giant Trujillano sandwhich called a king kong, sorry I don’t have a picture of that maybe I’ll get it again. My companion bought his 3rd camera of his mission. Another cool part about downtown is that there a ton of music shops and is why a lot of people here have one 6 or 7 foot tall speakers for their home sound system.

This week we got a call from our zone leaders and said we need a new apartment by the end of this week, and with the division of our barrio they also took away a huge portion of our area, which was in the nicer part of town, which kinda stinks. So now our options for the location of our new home are this really poor area, virgen de socorro, or this small secluded development called los cuatro suyos. We weren’t allowed in v. socorro because everyone gets robbed there so we took a morning in 4 suyos and started knocking on doors and asking if they’re renting their house. This Friday we found a house that´s pretty cool and cheap, so if we get it approved we´ll be moving out in the next few weeks.

We got to hear from one of the area authorities, Godoy, and had a lunch afterwards with 3 or 4 zones which was cool.

Also this week since we have to travel a lot and more than the other elders, we ran out of money and had to walk about a mile and a half to our area of proselyting and would stay there all day and would come back at 8:30 for dinner, but once we have our new house we wont have to.

We have this recent convert named Walter who´s in a wheelchair and is in bed all day. For service we were going to bath him but ended up only washing his feet and head since he didn´t have diapers. He also has a job even though he´s in a wheelchair which is cool. He lives with this less active member mechanic who gets him into his little moto taxi that has all these makeshift levers and things so that he can drive it.

Other things that happened this week:
-I saw a truck which was actually just a wooden plywood box on wheels
-I accidently had ceviche
-I watched as the people of 4suyos gathered to tear down the walls of this other neighboring development
-I regret that I didn´t  give money to the homeless man in the wheelchair with incense, playing really depressing music and asking for money.
-Some guy in our ward drew a picture of me during church.
-Some taxi driver with a van full of people stopped his car on the street and got out to relieve himself.

Here´s some pics of the drawing, and the entrance to our future home.
