This week went by fast, but it was nice
and hot still.
MONDAY after writing you we went
downtown and got some burgers with our district and then went to this store
that had some ties for less than $2 and we found 8 ties that were the same so
we bought them as our district. Then my companion and I messed around in some
music stores. Then to end it we played some soccer. Then had a FHE and they fed
us lots of cake and Inka kola.
TUESDAY was the first day we tried out
our district tie as a district for the first time for our meeting. Then the
rest of the day taught people and knocked on doors. In the night we helped plan
an activity for Friday.
WEDNESDAY we asked our district to help
us with a service project back on the mountain building a fence for this lady
in our ward. Afterwards we dumped buckets of water on ourselves and dried in a
few minutes. Then when we were taking the van off the mountain, we were the
only ones in it. Then that night we were helping our ward clerk by updating the
directory because our attendance is like in the 70s and there are over 700 in
the ward so we´ve been trying to fix this.
THURSDAY we had a day full of set
appointments but everything fell and so we resorted to contacting, but everyone
seemed to be in a bad mood. So we contacted in the sketchier part near the market
La Hermalinda and people were nicer. We also found somebody selling
pomegranates the size of melons and they gave us 3 huge ones for a dollar. We
had one appointment though that we were able to salvage and reschedule in the
night and it was this girl who her brother is the only member in her family and
she told us she wanted to be baptized and she´ has already been attending for
the past 4 weeks so all we have to do really is teach the lessons.
FRIDAY is the day we found an ice cream
shop that is also an aquarium but has cones for basically a quarter. This was
also the day of our ward activity, which we got there when people were supposed
to start to register so we could be looking for investigators but nobody was
there. Everyone has always told me that Peru time is different but I guess
they´re right, it didn´t start until 2 hours after it was originally planned
when people started showing up. We then tried to make it to some other
appointments and I was really hungry for another ice cream so we started
looking for people in the direction of the shop. Then the lady who was selling
the ice cream was actually one of the inactive youth we´ve been looking for and
she gave us free ice cream. We then returned at night to see the end of the
party which ended with a dance that quickly turned into a water balloon fight.
SATURDAY was pretty normal, but we found
some less actives who were baptized 3 years ago by apostate missionaries who basically
never interviewed them or taught them the lessons. So they were pretty much investigators
who didn´t think the church was true. We also got more free ice cream from the
aquarium.
SUNDAY we found some good people for
teaching but other than that it was another usual Sunday.
